3 Times The Charm for Webvisions and www.NDP.org.sg
Nation’s Independence Day Web Site Chooses Webvisions Again
Singapore - (5 August 2005) It’s three times the charm for Webvisions as National Day Parade (NDP) celebrations kick off to high gear for 9th August. As the third-time appointed official hosting provider of the nation’s National Parade web site, Webvisions‘ suite of comprehensive professional managed solutions advanced solutions for National Day Parade’s official web home include load balancing, security features such as firewalls and backup policies and 24/7 technical expertise. As the official web site for the National Day Parade, www.ndp.org.sg is a centralized source of live online ticket registration, community interaction, program highlights, competitions, community activities.
Supporting over 14,000 live ticket applications daily, Webvisions’ redundant, carrier-neutral, multiple-backbone data center ensured that access to ndp.org.sg is made in the quickest possible time. This is because a key concern was the substantial bandwidth peak and demand for the NDP Website, particularly the E-Ticketing application function and the live webcast of the various “Celebrate Singapore” events as well as the Parade itself. During the 4-month period from April to July, the website had over 275,000 visits and over 140,000 ballots.
"This why we chose Webvisions in the first place," said Major Alan Teo Aung Peng, Chairman NDP 05 Website and Feedback Committee, of Webvisions’ flexible burstilble bandwidth up to 100mbps. "It is very important to have the capacity to accommodate such peaks in activities. Extreme peaks in bandwidth and demand are common for the NDP Website, as many people will go online when we open our E-Ticketing application."
Uptime of ndp.org.sg was further enhanced by the load-balancing solution or siteBalance. This optimizes server performance against high network traffic and server loads by ensuring high availability and failover protection, and detects failure and redistributes access requests over multiple network points.
Given the wide array of community-buildling activities which include moblogging, ecards, streaming videos and a wide array of National Day Parade-related downloads, this year’s NDP website had to be built on a robust and reliable servers capable of running complex applications and interactive online activities available at all times.
In living up to its motto “hosting is our business, “ Webvisions’ Data Centers are designed to provide an environment necessary to keep ndp.org.sg servers running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Webvisions' Data Center has protection systems in place to ensure maximum operation regardless of the disruption.
Personalized Service
"The personal service delivered by the Webvisions team working on ndp.org.sg made all the difference,” Said Major Alan Teo Aung Peng, Chairman NDP 05 Website and Feedback Committee. “The team entertained late night calls and many urgent meetings over the weekend ironing out small details which rounded off a very seamless partnership."
"It is no surprise that Webvisions has been the hosting provider of the NDP website for 3 years now. Their level of service quality and customer-oriented approach makes Webvisions our ideal choice as the hosting provider capable of delivering the high standards required by such an important national event."
