We strongly recommend all our customers having Windows dedicated or co-location servers with us to always install the latest patches from Microsoft, to ensure that your servers are not vulnerable to the exploit used by the Conficker worm. We also strongly recommend you to perform a full-scan of your servers using the anti-virus software protection that you have, with the latest signature update, to ensure that your servers are not infected by the virus. Most antivirus software, including the one provided by Webvisions' antivirus services, can detect and block/remove the worm/virus.

You can engage our site-admin service for us to perform the necessary patches installation and removal of the virus if your server is already infected. $250/hour site-admin charges (during office hours) apply. For our SecureGuard customers, this is already part of the services we provide under the SecureGuard service. More information with regards to our site-admin service can be found at this URL:

Server Level Spam Filtering and Tagging on Windows Virtual Servers

We are introducing spam filtering feature on our Windows virtual servers as an enhancement to our email services on Windows. This new spam filtering feature is utilizing the best open source spam fighting solution, spamassassin as the content filtering engine.

Mails below certain size will be sent for analysis to our central spamassassin servers and a score will be given to each mail. We are setting two server level score thresholds, a low and a high.

For a mail with score above the high threshold, it would be classified as definite spam and mail server will reject it. For a mail with score between low and high threshold, it will be tagged as SUSPECTED spam on the subject line. Mails with score lower than the low threshold will be passed without alteration.

The high threshod is set at a number that a mail with that kind of spam score would definitely be a spam and the probability of false classification at the high score threshold is very very small.

The system only subjects incoming mails from external or non-authenticated source for spam filtering. If you are sending out email using your Outlook email client and using SMTP authentication, your email will not be subjected to spam filtering.

As spam filtering is not a 100% exact science, there are possibilites that mails may be wrongly tagged or rejected. If you encounter issue related to this, please log a case with our support team and we will see how we can help you to resolve it.
